Throughout the school we seek to maintain an environment most likely to facilitate learning for our pupils.
In order to achieve this we provide:

• Consistent and sensitive programmes designed to moderate challenging behaviour.
• A strong commitment to multi-disciplinary collaboration with professionals to ensure that the development of the whole child is considered during a hospital admission.
• Close liaison with parents/guardians as partners to support them by providing education for their child in hospital, and advice about recent special needs legislation, educational placements and individual tuition.
• Opportunities for students to activity engage in their learning and contribute their ideas about curriculum provision.
• Links with the community through regular creative arts and science workshops, outings and visiting teachers.
• Continuity and progression by assessment, evaluation, record keeping and a differentiated curriculum.
• Continuity of educational provision by liaison with pupil's home school and, where appropriate, their Local Education Authority.
• We can assist in following coursework for GCSEs and 'A' Levels and college courses during the hospital stay.
• The school is a registered exam centre and pupils can take national exams whilst in hospital. We have an examinations officer who can be contacted at the school office.

14-19 curriculum

• We teach and support on an individual and group basis for all curriculum areas.
• As an exam centre we are able to support and enable pupils to take public exams and to complete coursework objectives.
• Community pupils attending the Chelsea and Westminster and St. Mary’s School sites are able to study for a range of accredited courses following an admission meeting with the Head Teacher.
• Pupils have access to learning resources through our library, via ICT and teacher expertise, through home-school links, through RBKC subject advisors and our own teachers’ links with mainstream education.
• Where relevant we offer opportunities to our pupils for work experience through contacts with local businesses.
• Students at all four hospitals have weekly access to our Careers Counsellor.
