The Red Class transformed their classroom into a t-shirt factory, with the help of resident artist Shaun. The children went from planning and design, through to production in just one afternoon, making four t-shirts!
Planning and Design -
The children started by planning their ideas on paper. They drew blank t-shirts and experimented with different colours and patterns, helping them generate ideas. Here Damon is seen working hard on his colour techniques.
Wax Resistance-
The children then drew their designs on plain white t-shirts using wax. They understood that once their designs were painted on, the wax lines would be melted to create plain white lines.
Painting-
Once their wax outline was complete, the children painted their t-shirts drawing from their ideas.... James and Dane, the artist's at work!
Drying-
The children used hairdryers to speed up the paint drying process. James is seen concentrating here, ensuring the wax does not begin to melt.
Melting-
Once the paint was dry, the children melted the max with an iron...
......then....
