Gemma was a student who came to the Hospital School 17 years ago when she was going through a very tough time. Last week she got in touch with us to tell us about the positive changes in her life and what her time at the Hospital School meant to her. Have a read...
"I'm not sure you will remember me but 17 years ago you helped a young girl overcome a very difficult time in her life, her mental health had deteriorated to the lowest point! While she was a patient she attended the school and even after she became an outpatient she still remained a pupil.
Well 17 years have passed and I have been through college and become a mother to 3 amazing children, I've worked in hotel and leisure industry and now I am working within mental health in a charity organisation who help raise awareness within our local community. I also volunteer for rethink mental illness as a peer support group coordinator.
I was diagnosed with bipolar and borderline personality disorder and have had ups and downs over the years but always kept pushing through. Thanks to you and your amazing staff who believed in me I became stronger and managed to get myself through to where I am now. I wanted to share my story with you as I wanted you to see that I still think of you amazing people and hope one day I get to see you all again."
